Olde World Bakery II [34 mi.]

  1. Today’s ride (Sept. 16th) was chaotic. I was riding with the C group. As we approached Lumberton, some of the B riders passed us and then turned right at a major intersection. This had many of us confused (i.e., which way do we go? where was our ride leader? etc.). Some of the C riders turned when they should have gone straight through the intersection.

In the future, if a faster group passes a slower group and is turning at an intersection that was intended only for their group, I suggest they call out something like “Right turn B riders only”.

  2. The only section of the rides where there was a possibility of a faster group overtaking the C group was Rt 541 in Lumberton. In the pre-ride leader meeting I brought this up hoping to avoid any confusion if a group overtake should occur. While it did not completely eliminate the confusion, hopefully it minimized it. Your suggestion to have riders call out “Right turn B riders only” is a good one, and should help in this situation.
