Spring is finally here!

It was a great Sunday to go out and ride and did we finally see folks coming out of the woodwork to ride with us. A big welcome back to Nancy, Wendy, Jodi, and Lisa. Plus we learned that 7 riders were sporting new bikes for the season at the ride. For the 97 riders who attended our all level Sunday ride, you all heard the story about the NJ State Police stopping another riding group for blowing past a stop sign in downtown Tabernacle on Saturday. Please pay attention and obey all traffic laws, in fact on May 11, we are hosting a course for group riding skills. This course is open to every rider and there is no charge to attend. Our ride took us past several inspiring points of interest and history; we learned about the two famous US Supreme Court decisions that are named after Mt. Laurel and we saw why the NJ saying is still remembered as the “Garden State”. There used to be road stands everywhere with farmers selling their fresh produce, boy the Red Top and Green Top markets on Route 70 were busy today. Plus we finally had relief from the wind. Frank your prayers have been answered.

We missed John Murphy, he was off on a solemn mission, he participated in the Face of America ride with wounded veterans who rode from Washington DC to Gettysburg. Next weekend you can ride in a superb local event. On Saturday,May 4,  the Urban Promise hosts a ride from Johnson’s Farm in Medford. The ride benefits a great local charity that works with children in Camden. Chuck Nowicki is the Captain of the Team Evesham team. The ride makes loops out from Johnson’s Farm and it is a great way to start off the ride season. The next day Sunday, May 5, 27 Team Evesham members will be participating in the 5 Boro Ride in New York. This event is sold out but it is a DEFINITE participation event for next year, it is always the first Sunday in May.

You could not beat the weather, sunny and springtime for sure, everyone was taking off their outer layers and it was so great that a group headed back to Marco’s at the Country Club for lunch, they even sat outside on the terrace and enjoyed a great brunch, make sure you join us after the ride next week, great food and we get a discount too.

A few updates and reminders, this Thursday, May 2 we will meet at 6:00pm for our first Thursday night ride, please remember to park as far away from the entrance to the Country Club and closest to Main Street. Do you have friends who ant to join us, just remind them we don’t charge and we welcome all riders, (no training wheels allowed) with helmets.
