It was unseasonably warm this week so out of our houses we came. Two great Team Evesham rides were hosted.
On Saturday morning Team Evesham Ride Leaders Laura Simons & Scott Santos lead 10 riders on the Hilly Philly ride from the Art Museum, up into the Belmont Hills and over The Wall in Manayunk. As Scott reported, “Eight riders joined us and accomplished all of the climbs. Everyone set lots of personal records on the climbs. As usual, we all had a blast on the descents. As weather permits, we will be doing this ride the first Saturday of each month.”
Sunday started out foggy but being the intrepid riders that we are we cleared our heads and rolled on into it. Amazingly over 60 riders showed up for this! We were also fortunate to welcome four members of the White Clay Bicycle Club who came all the way from Delaware to ride with us. At our halfway point we stopped at Medford Bagels for some of their wonderful toasted specialties prepared by their amazing staff. After the ride we had a delicious, warm meal at Marco’s Restaurant in the Indian Spring Country Club. Hey Dana: When are you going to start riding with us?
Will this riding season ever end? If this coming weekend’s weather is any indication NO!
After the Sunday ride we were absolutely stunned by Neal Wilson’s new shoes. Good thing he didn’t wear these babies during the ride or there would have been more than a few car accidents. Sandy is now thinking of getting a pair (they match his new bike) but we’re trying to convince him otherwise out of concern for everyone’s eyesight. Sorry Neal – they’re awesome!
Here’s a great article from Bicycling Magazine about building up your core muscles for cycling.
- Saturday, 1/19 at 9AM – “A” level ride for 35+/- miles, no stop, departing from Indian Springs Country Club at 115 S Elmwood Rd, Marlton, NJ 08053. The route is Hawkins Road to Atco [32 mi.].
- Sunday, 1/20 at 9AM – Team Evesham all level (A+,A,B+,B,C) ride departing from Indian Springs Country Club at 115 S Elmwood Rd, Marlton, NJ 08053. The route will be published later this week.
- Tuesday, 1/22 at 12PM – The 2013 TD Five Boro Bike Tour regular registration will be a “rush” registration system, similar to 2011 where the Tour’s first-come, first-serve registration system sold out in less than 24 hours. Starting 12PM on January 22 you can register here. If you’re still considering don’t – JUST DO IT – you won’t regret it. Over the past several years many Team Evesham riders have participated in this amazing event – don’t miss out!
As always be safe and courteous and remember to have fun!
