An Entire Month of Milestones

An incredible Sunday of riding events, plus an entire month of milestones but read to the end for a very unique opportunity on Sunday, August 12 for Team Evesham riders.

This past Sunday we had 84 riders for our Promenade training ride for Team Evesham. Plus we had 23 Team Evesham riders participating in the Tour de Shore, Irish Pub Ride… On Sunday there were 107 members of Team Evesham out and riding!!!

Our Sunday ride from Panera was dry and comfortable but one of our B groups had two – almost three – flat tires (no donuts though) and some chain problems due to the weather the night before. No bother, we persevered and everyone made it out to Nixon’s Deli and back on the Nixon’s Southside Route (thanks to Joe Racite for the route). A big thanks to all of the ride leaders who filled in for others who were away at the Irish Pub Tour de Shore ride. We also had a few new faces in the crowd which is always nice.

For the Irish Pub ride we started from the Philadelphia Irish Pub at 20th & Walnut Streets and headed to the Irish Pub in Atlantic City. The route is very cool and it was not as hot as the Cancer Ride earlier this month. But the big news for this ride was the performance of our very own Dave Bennis (now known as “young legs Dave”). Young legs was seen cruising at 20-21 mph hour as he was leading a few other Team Evesham riders in this ride. Remember Young legs Dave normally is the “C” team ride leader! The troop all got to the beach before the monsoon rains descended on the Atlantic City and enjoyed the party with the “best food at any charity ride” (thank you for your expert opinion Scott).

The only delay the Team Evesham members had on the Tour de Shore ride was leaving the rest stops; Sandy was out talking to folks he knows (and even some he doesn’t), encouraging them to sign up for the MS City to Shore ride which is now 60 days away. You too should sign up for this event, it promises to sell out again this year so don’t be left out of the premier ride in the area.

July Roundup:

Ok, now let’s recap the month of July and an enormous amount of happenings:
A) July 1 ride-we all surprised Dave Bennis at the Gibson House, there was no boat show at the Promenade (young legs Dave), for his 70th birthday, wow what a treat, he had no idea we had this one planned. As a matter of fact three new riders thought we had a party every weekend after the ride.
B) July 8-We had 51 riders participate in the American Cancer Society Ride, please keep fundraising until August 31, our goal is $20,000.
C) On Sunday July 15 we had 82 riders for our weekly Sunday training ride. This was a record turnout!
D) Sunday July 22 we exceeded our own record and had 95 riders traveling with us in 8 groups for our weekly ride from Panera.
E) This past Sunday, July 29, we had 84 riders for the regular Team Evesham ride from Panera and then another 23 riders participating in the Tour de Shore for more than 100 riders in Team Evesham rides, another record.
F) We have outfitted over 149 riders with the new 2012 Team Evesham jersey, remember you can get yours at D&Q on Route 70, it is half price ($25.00) if you are riding in a charity event with our team, either MS or ACS. Get your now before they sell out, we ordered only 200 jerseys.
