This past weekend team members participated in 3 excellent rides: Hilly Philly, Joe’s C/C+ & our regular Sunday Team Evesham ride…
Saturday: Hilly Philly & Joe’s Taunton Forge Ride
Several members of Team Evesham rode the Hilly Philly on Saturday, hosted by the Rocket Riders’ Coach JQ and led by Team Evesham’s Jim Sweet. Fourteen riders started out at the Philadelphia Art Museum at Eakin’s Oval, up West River drive and out through the hills of the Philadelphia suburbs. Over a series of climbing challenges, culminating at the famous Manayunk Wall. As all riders eagerly accepted the challenge, word has it Jim Sweet jumped to the lead, reached the top, looked around and didn’t see anyone. He then rode back down, joined his ride mates and went up again. Compliments to JQ and Jim for a great ride.
Joe’s C/C+ ride was also a great time. Sandy Student wrote, “…I absolutely loved Joe’s ride today…” The 35-mile weekly ride started at Taunton Forge Shopping Center. Nice work Joe!
Sunday’s Team Evesham Ride
Team Evesham’s Sunday all-level ride, again, had over 40 riders enjoying beautiful weather and scenery along the roads in South Jersey. The route was the Indian Mills Ride that Dave Bennis created. Aside from 3 flat tires, it was a sunny, pleasant and relaxing ride out to Nixon’s Deli, a favorite rest stop of local cyclists.
This week we began dividing into 4 group levels rather than the usual 3. The groupings were A, B+, easy B and C. This was to provide a better riding experience for the many riders at the B level. Judging from the comments after the ride, splitting the B group was a big improvement. A huge thanks goes to Wendy Smollock-Donato for leading our first B+ group. Wendy is one of those people who is always willing to help out and a tremendous asset to the team. Thanks also to Dennis Dahms and Lon Mietka for leading the B group.
