This weekend not a total wash, next Sunday’s ride

Gran Fondo: way to go champ!!!

Team Evesham’s Jim Sweet completed the 2011 Philadelphia Gran Fondo ride on Sunday, August 14th. This is already a¬†grueling ride, acknowledged by several Team Evesham members who have experienced the ride first-hand. Jim managed to complete the 73-mile route (the 108-mile route was closed) through a treacherous day of thunderstorms and flooding. Needless to say he was soaked to the bone at the finish line. Now THAT is dedication.

MS Society’s Group Riding Skills Class

Earlier, on Saturday, August 13th, 17 of the Team Evesham members signed up for the MS City to Shore ride attended a Group Riding Skills course at the beautiful Gibson House in Marlton. The instructors, Don Elsas – Don frequently joins Team Evesham for our Sunday rides – and Tony Marchiano, are certified by the League of American Bicyclists to teach the course. Breakfast was served before the class – thanks Sandy!

The first hour of this three-hour course was a classroom lesson, the rest of was hands-on riding skills in the parking lot. The instructors did an excellent job of guiding new and experienced Team Evesham MS riders through NJ state bicycling laws and good group riding principals. The beautiful weather was helped out a little too. This course is highly recommended for future MS City to Shore riders.

Tuesday Night Ride

On Tuesday, August 16th from 6-8PM Team Evesham will once again attempt to host the Murphy’s Market Ride starting from Murphy’s Supermarket in Tabernacle (381 Medford Lakes Rd., Tabernacle, NJ 08088). The past two Sundays we’ve attempted this same route but the Team Evesham ride had been cancelled both days due to weather. Third time’s a charm! Hope to see you there.
